Badal Peak is an impressive mountain located in the Karakoram Range of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It stands at an elevation of approximately 6,285 meters (20,618 feet) and is part of the Shyok Valley region. Badal Peak is relatively lesser-known compared to some of the iconic giants in the Karakoram, but it offers a beautiful and challenging climbing experience for mountaineers looking for a remote and technical ascent. Badal Peak is a non-technical yet demanding peak, suitable for experienced mountaineers who have good skills in rock climbing, ice climbing, and glacier navigation. The peak is considered challenging due to its steep faces, rocky terrain, and glaciers, which require both technical skills and physical endurance.

Tour Itinarary

• Arrive in Skardu via flight or jeep from Islamabad. • Rest and acclimatize in Skardu. • Briefing about the expedition and preparation.

• Travel by jeep from Skardu to Shyok Valley (approx. 6-7 hours). • Set up base camp in the valley.

• Begin the trek from Shyok Valley to Badal Peak Base Camp. • The trek typically takes 3-4 days, depending on weather and terrain. • Set up Base Camp near the glacier and rest for acclimatization.

• Spend a few days at Base Camp for acclimatization. • Explore surrounding areas, do day hikes, and check climbing gear.

• Begin climbing toward Camp 1, situated at around 5,300 meters. • The climb involves glacier travel and rock sections. • Set up Camp 1 and rest for the night.

• Continue the ascent to Camp 2, located around 5,800 meters. • The climb becomes more technical with steep rock faces and mixed climbing. • Set up Camp 2 for acclimatization.

• From Camp 2, make the final push to the summit of Badal Peak. • The summit climb involves navigating technical rock and ice sections. • Reach the summit and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Karakoram Range.

• After summiting, descend back to Base Camp. • Rest at Base Camp after the descent.

• Begin the trek back from Base Camp to Shyok Valley. • Return to Skardu by jeep.

• Depart from Skardu to Islamabad or onward destinations.
