Baltoro Kangri is a prominent peak in the Karakoram Range in Pakistan, standing at 7,312 meters (23,000 feet). It is located near the iconic Baltoro Glacier, which is one of the largest glaciers outside of the polar regions. This peak is an excellent choice for experienced mountaineers looking for a challenging ascent in a less-visited part of the Karakoram.

Tour Itinarary

• Arrival: Fly into Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital city. • Activities: Orientation meeting, equipment check, and briefing with the expedition team. Rest and acclimatization to the local time zone.

• Take a flight from Islamabad to Skardu (or travel by road, depending on weather conditions). • Skardu is the gateway to the Karakoram mountains. • Rest day to prepare and acclimatize before heading to the base camp.

Stay in Skardu

• Drive: Travel to Askole (approximately 5-6 hours by jeep). Askole is the last settlement before starting the trek. • Overnight: Camp in Askole.

• Trekking: Start trekking through the Braldu Valley towards Jhola, crossing the Braldu River and entering a rugged terrain. The trek takes about 6-8 hours. • Overnight: Camp at Jhola (3,130 meters).

• Trekking: Continue the trek from Jhola to Paju (3,380 meters), which takes 6-7 hours. The landscape is stunning, with views of high peaks and the glacial river. • Overnight: Camp at Paju.

• Trekking: From Paju, trek to Khoburtse (3,800 meters), a trek of 7-8 hours. • Overnight: Camp at Khoburtse.

• Trekking: Trek to Baltoro Glacier Base Camp, reaching a height of around 4,400 meters. The route takes you onto the glacier, offering magnificent views of towering peaks like Broad Peak and K2. • Overnight: Camp at Baltoro Glacier Base Camp.

• Activities: Rest and acclimatize at Base Camp. Use this time to practice ice climbing, familiarize yourself with the terrain, and prepare for the ascent. • Overnight: Base Camp.

• Climbing: Start ascending towards Camp 1 (5,000 meters). This section involves glacier travel and moderate ice climbing. Expect 6-8 hours of ascent. • Overnight: Camp 1.

• Activities: Acclimatization days at Camp 1. This is a critical phase for acclimatizing to the higher altitude and preparing for the next leg of the climb. • Overnight: Camp 1.

• Climbing: From Camp 1, continue to Camp 2 (6,000 meters), a steep ascent involving both rock and ice climbing. This will take 6-8 hours of technical climbing. • Overnight: Camp 2.

• Activities: Acclimatize at Camp 2. Conduct high-altitude training, practice technical climbing, and assess the route conditions. • Overnight: Camp 2.

• Climbing: Begin the final push for the summit. Expect long days of challenging climbing (8-12 hours). The route is demanding, with ice and mixed terrain. Reach the summit of Baltoro Kangri. • Summit: At 7,312 meters, the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of peaks such as K2, Broad Peak, and many other famous Karakoram giants. • Overnight: Descend to Camp 2 or Camp 1 depending on energy levels.

• Descent: Begin the descent from Camp 2 back to Base Camp. Descend carefully due to the steep terrain. • Overnight: Camp at Base Camp.

• Trekking: Retrace your steps back to Askole, passing through Khoburtse, Paju, and Jhola. This section may take 4-6 days. • Overnight: Camp at Askole.

• Drive: Return to Skardu by jeep (6-8 hours). • Overnight: Stay in Skardu.

• Fly/Drive: Return to Islamabad by flight or jeep. Rest and relax after the expedition. • Evening: Debriefing and celebration.
