K2 is the second-highest mountain in the world and one of the most difficult to climb. The expedition from Askole to K2 Base Camp is a trek that takes climbers through some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in the world, and while it doesn’t involve summiting the peak, it is still a challenging and rewarding adventure. This trek involves traveling from Askole, the last village before the wilderness, to K2 Base Camp, a stunning site located at the foot of the world’s most dangerous mountain. The route goes through glaciers, rocky terrain, and remote areas with breathtaking views of the Karakoram Range. The journey is mostly a trekking expedition rather than a technical climb, but it still requires physical fitness and preparation for high-altitude conditions.

Tour Itinarary

• Arrive in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. • Rest and recover from your flight. • Meet your team and attend a briefing about the trek, the route, and safety measures.

• Fly from Islamabad to Skardu (if weather allows). If flights are not available, travel by road (approximately 18-20 hours). • Spend time in Skardu, a beautiful town that serves as the starting point for the trek to K2 Base Camp. • Rest and finalize preparations for the trek.

• Take a jeep ride from Skardu to Askole, which will take about 8-10 hours on rough mountain roads. • Askole is the last village before entering the wilderness. It is the starting point of the trek to K2 Base Camp.

• Begin the trek from Askole to Jhola, located around 3,100 meters (10,170 feet). • This part of the trek goes through rocky paths, and you will cross the Biafo Glacier. The trek can be tough, but the views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers make it worthwhile. • Set up camp at Jhola and rest.

• Continue trekking from Jhola to Paiju, which is about 3,400 meters (11,155 feet). • Paiju is a popular stopping point along the trek, located near the Baltoro Glacier. Along the way, you will get stunning views of Broad Peak, Rakaposhi, and other peaks in the Karakoram Range.

• Continue your journey from Paiju to Goro II, situated at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet). • The trek through the Baltoro Glacier is challenging, with rocky terrain and glacier crossings. The area is remote and offers some of the most spectacular views of the Karakoram.

• Spend a few days at K2 Base Camp acclimatizing and taking in the surroundings. This is a chance to relax, enjoy the mountain views, and rest from the long trek. • Explore the K2 Base Camp area and interact with other climbers who are attempting the summit or simply resting.

Ali Camp to Goro II

Trek from Goro II to Paiju (7-8 hours): Continue descending through rocky and glacial terrain. As you get closer to Paiju, the landscape becomes greener and more hospitable. Overnight camping at Paiju.

Trek from Paiju to Askole (6-7 hours): Complete the final leg of the trek as you descend back to Askole. Here, you will complete your trek and have a final night camping in the mountains before returning to Skardu. Overnight camping in Askole.

Drive back to Skardu (6-8 hours by jeep): After completing the trek, return to Skardu. You’ll have some time to rest and clean up. Overnight stay in Skardu.

Fly or drive back to Islamabad (1 hour by flight or 16-20 hours by road). Once back in Islamabad, rest after your amazing trek. Overnight stay in Islamabad.

Departure from Islamabad for your flight back home or onward destination.
